Grandparents hold their grandchild and remember the day they held you the same way. Your brothers and sisters look at the baby and see themselves years ago.
These emotions move quietly, in a squeeze of the hand or a glance exchanged in the pew. I don't pose, I don't direct and I don't ask anyone to smile at the camera. The exception is the group photos outside the church with the godparents and grandparents. Then I arrange everyone in a few minutes and step back into the background.

What happens on the day
A christening day has three parts. Each has its own light and its own main characters.
Morning at home
The quietest part of the day. Mum dresses the baby in the christening gown, Dad gets the candle ready. This is where unplanned photos happen: siblings peeking into the cot, Dad by the window cradling the baby's head in his hand.
The church ceremony
I know the rhythm of a baptism and when to be close or disappear. I capture the key moments of the sacrament (the sign of the cross, the renunciation of evil, the pouring of water, the anointing with chrism, the white garment, lighting the candle from the Easter candle), but also what happens alongside them. The godmother's look when she hears her name. A father's hand on the mother's shoulder.
I've worked in Warsaw parishes since 2018. Among others, I've photographed at the Field Cathedral of the Polish Army, St. Anne's Church and the Holy Cross Church. In church I work without flash, and fast lenses handle even dark interiors.
Reception and family
Cake, toasts, long conversations at the table. Grandparents holding their grandchild, aunts laughing at the godfather, the baby falling asleep on Grandma's lap.

A photographer, not just your guests' phones
Guests with phones will take dozens of photos of the baby, and it's good that they do. But when everyone is looking at the baby, nobody notices Grandma wiping away a tear. A photographer looks around the baby.
Gear for difficult light. A full-frame camera and fast lenses capture detail by candlelight.
I know the liturgy. I know when the priest pours the water, anoints with chrism and lights the candle.
Discretion. I don't run around, I don't use flash in church and I don't block the guests' view.
Consistent editing. Whether it's 80 or 120 photos, they share one style and tell one story.

How to prepare at home before the christening
Choose the right room. A room with a large window that gives soft natural light works best, with a calm background: a light wall, a sheer curtain, a chest of drawers. Avoid cluttered spaces and boldly patterned wallpaper in strong colours.
Get the baby's things ready. It's best to lay out the christening outfit in advance on a bed, armchair or changing table. It's also worth preparing small keepsakes you'd like photographed: a medallion, the candle, a rosary, little shoes or the invitations.
Tidy the background. Fifteen minutes before I arrive, a quick tidy of the areas that will be in the frame is enough. It doesn't need to be perfect, but it's worth moving the drying rack or toys out of sight.
Outfits for the family. If you're planning photos with siblings or grandparents at home, make sure they're ready on time. We'll capture natural moments before you leave.
Don't worry about the light. At home and at the reception I use continuous light, which doesn't flash or bother the baby. I adjust it to your home, so even in a dark room or on a cloudy day the photos will look natural.
