Hi, I'm Tom.
My name is Tom Bort, I'm a photographer in Warsaw and I run TomProPhoto. I photograph people out in the city, and indoors I prefer a calm conversation over coffee with music in the background.
TomProPhoto · since 2018A good photo starts with the atmosphere on set.

It started with a Nikon D90
As a teenager I walked around the city in the evenings with a Nikon D90. What drew me most was the city after dark: the streetlights, the neon signs, the wet asphalt reflecting headlights.
Then came the people. Friends first, then the first paid jobs in 2018. Since 2020 it's been my full-time profession. Mostly portraits and women's photoshoots, with weddings and christenings along the way. Portraiture is what draws me in most. Today I have more than 600 completed projects behind me.
People who don't know how to pose
I see the same pattern on shoot after shoot. Someone arrives tense, with an excuse ready: "but I really can't pose at all." Sometimes it's a mother with two kids, sometimes a man who needs a photo for LinkedIn, sometimes a couple before their wedding.
After half an hour of calm conversation and the first few shots, something shifts. That person starts to trust me and stops watching themselves. They become themselves.
That's the moment I still do this for. It isn't about beautiful photos, because those come on their own once the atmosphere is right. It's about someone looking at their photos afterwards and saying "that really is me, just from a better side than the one I see in the mirror."
I show you the shots as we go
You see the photos on the camera screen during the shoot itself. You know how you're coming out, and you can react to whatever you like.
Privacy comes first
I don't publish photos without talking it over with you first. If you'd rather keep things completely private, just tell me and it stays between us.
A few numbers that speak for themselves
Studio and outdoors in Warsaw
I work in two proven studios, one in Praga and one in Targówek. Each has its own character, and we choose between them together, depending on the mood we're after.
I love shooting outdoors too. Łazienki Royal Park at dawn can look like a different park from the one tourists see during the day: the light falls at an angle between the trees and there's almost nobody around. The neon signs and the river boulevards at night work well too, as do the murals of Praga and the Old Town before the cafés open.
Sometimes we get in the car and drive out of the city, if the idea calls for it.

What's missing is the best sensual work, most wedding and christening coverage, and private family photos with small children.
Those photos belong to the people in them, and only they decide whether they appear anywhere. The portfolio shows only the photos I've been given clear consent to use. The rest stays with them alone, however much I'd love to show a particular shot.
If you've read this far
Then something here landed. The best projects start with a short conversation, not a booking form.
