Why this experience matters

Since 2018 I've been creating portfolios for models and actors applying to agencies and castings. I know which photos are required at the application stage and which shots show your potential without unnecessary retouching.

My goal isn't pretty pictures. It's a set that meets what the industry expects. That's the difference between a portfolio rejected in three seconds and one that moves forward.

Who this photoshoot is for

I prepare the set for an agency application or a casting. I work with people at every stage of their career.

models building their first portfolio

actors who need casting photos

dancers, performers and creators looking for commercial work

people going to castings and applying to agencies

people combining a portfolio with content for their own brand

I only shoot portfolio sessions with adults. I don't photograph minors for modelling or casting applications.

First portfolio or an update

First time

We start with the basics: polaroids and a clean application set. I explain step by step what we're doing and why.

Update

After a change in your look, weight or agency, we focus on what's missing. An update usually fits into a shorter package than building a portfolio from scratch.

Why I shoot for the agency first and social media second

Many beginners focus on striking shots, but agencies want the truth about how you look and what your proportions are. So we first create material that meets agency requirements, and only then the creative photos for social media. The application set decides whether you get any further at all.

Which photos agencies ask for most often

A good portfolio shows you in several versions, not just one. The standard set is:

a headshot plus a beauty shot with natural skin
half-length and full-length
profile and three-quarter view
unretouched polaroids
emotional and natural photos
commercial or editorial shots

Polaroids: what they're for and what they look like

At first contact, agencies don't want striking photos. They want the truth. Most modelling agencies ask for polaroids at the application stage, because they show your natural proportions and features without any enhancement.

I shoot them in flat light with no retouching, as a full set: front, two three-quarter views, two profiles, full length, a small smile and a big smile. I learned this by watching which sets agencies sent back as too polished. Since then I leave polaroids raw and save the editing for the creative part.

An acting portfolio is a separate set

An acting portfolio follows different rules. Modelling is about your figure, proportions and a full set of polaroids. Acting focuses on your face and emotion: the casting director needs to see how many different states you can play.

For actors I shoot headshots in natural light plus a series of emotional shots, from calm to tension. I always choose the shots based on what you're applying for, because that shapes the whole set.

Why agencies reject portfolios

heavy retouching and filters that change the face
no polaroids or no full-length photos
just one outfit, one light, one expression
an outdated look, like a different hair colour or weight
photos that are more artistic than casting-ready

Which agencies I prepare portfolios for

I prepare portfolios to meet the requirements of most Polish and international modelling and acting agencies. If a specific agency has sent you guidelines, share them before the session and we'll match the whole set to them: number of shots, format, backdrop and type of polaroids.

What you get: ready-to-use material, not just files

The result is what counts, not the number of shots. After the session you have a complete set you can simply attach to your application:

  • a set ready for agencies
  • casting photos
  • polaroids that meet the standard
  • a set matched to your type of modelling or role
  • colour and black-and-white shots plus web versions

Consultation before the session

Before we set a date, we agree on the specifics that decide which shots we take:

  • which agency you're applying to and what type of modelling interests you
  • your look and the roles you want to play
  • which photos you already have and what's missing from them

How a portfolio photoshoot in Warsaw works, step by step

  1. Preparation. We choose outfits and makeup and go over what to bring.
  2. The session. We work in the studio or outdoors, and I show you the shots on the camera screen as we go.
  3. Selection and delivery. You get a private online gallery, mark your shots, and the finished set comes back within 5 days in two formats: for print and for the web.

How to prepare

A few days before the session, take care of the details editing can't fix: short, clean nails, facial hair freshly shaved or neatly trimmed, hair washed the day before.

Clothes: simple, fitted, neutral, with no logos or patterns. Bring a few options, including one dark and one light top. Light makeup or none for the polaroids, stronger for the editorial part. Get a good night's sleep the day before and go easy on alcohol and salt.

Studio and outdoors

I work in a studio with natural light, and studio hire is included in the package. When the set benefits from a setting, we head out into the city: a park in the morning, murals, the riverside boulevards after dark. I shoot agency photos both ways, depending on what the agency requires.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to pose?
No. I guide you through every pose and expression.
Can I get a portfolio done with no experience?
Yes, most clients are doing it for the first time.
How many photos do I need?
For an application, a dozen or so strong shots plus a full set of polaroids is enough.
How many outfits should I bring?
Usually three to five. We decide during the consultation based on the type of agency.

Yes, the set meets the requirements of both Polish and international agencies.

Three stories from sessions

Short descriptions of what clients came with and exactly what we did. You'll find their own words in the reviews below.

01

Bartek Janicki

actor

Bartek had applied to three acting agencies and was turned down every time because of his photos. We created a clean casting set, a full set of polaroids and an emotional series in five states. After this session two agencies invited him for a meeting.

02

Marysia Dudek

model

Marysia was doing her first modelling portfolio with no experience in front of the camera. After raw polaroids and a full-length series, she was accepted onto the books of the agency she applied to.

03

Daniel Woźniak

model

Daniel was changing agencies and only needed an update. We added the missing profile shots and a new full-length shot, and with his refreshed portfolio he signed with the new agency that same month.

Reviews

I'd applied to three agencies and kept getting turned down because of my polaroids, someone said they were too edited. Here they were shot completely raw, and suddenly two agencies wrote back. I was worried I'd be stiff with no experience, but after fifteen minutes I forgot about it.

Ksenia Wodecka, model

I'd had casting photos done by two photographers, and only here did I feel someone understood what they're for. It wasn't about pretty shots but about different states. I got the gallery in 5 days, exactly on time, which saved my application. One tip: bring more outfits than you think.

Bartłomiej Sęk, theatre actor

I needed photos partly for agencies and partly for my own brand. We went with the Gold package and got both. It was calm on set, nobody asked me for a fake smile. We did part of the consultation in Chinese, a small thing, but it really helps.
